The ceilings in the upstairs space of the Building are about to be primed, and they’ll be painted within a few days. I would like to confess at this time that I derive little to no joy from choosing paint colors, whether for a wall or ceiling or old rocking chair. I find myself easily overwhelmed not just by the crazy-wide selection of available colors, but also the subtle difference between colors within the same family. And the global and psychological ramifications of choosing the wrong shade.
What human can withstand such pressure?
Okay, so I’m kidding about the ramifications part. But I’m not kidding about the fact that I don’t like choosing paint colors. In this case, the paint I need to choose is the ceiling, which is torture considering we’re talking about picking between five trillion shades of white.
Keep in mind we have the brick walls…
And the “Beach” colored beams, posts, and walls.
This is the beach color. It’s being applied as we speak.
I mean write.
Here was the swatch of Beach, by the way. Pretty durn close!
So here’s my question of the day:
Will you please give me good ceiling color suggestions if you know of any?
I’m hesitant to use blinding white ceiling paint. I’m afraid it will be too bright.
Then again, it might look really clean and crisp.
I’m hesitant to use a soft white or off-white ceiling paint. I’m afraid it will be too dingy.
Then again, it might look really subtle and neutral.
So I guess I have two questions:
1. Should we do bright white or a softer/off-white?
2. Do you have any specific color brand/color name suggestions?
I don’t have many brain cells left. So I’d rather not expend them on this decision.
Ha.
Thank you!
Love,
