Civilian Clothes

DSC_8532My two cowgirl daughters, despite their dusty, grimy, manure-caked existence on our family cattle ranch, actually love wearing civilian clothes.

Here’s an outfit my older daughter put together recently.

(Links provided for your [or your daughter's...or your granddaughter's...or your niece's...or your friend's] convenience!)

alexmarieJacket: Maurice’s Button Front Jacket in Deep Taupe.

Long-Sleeve T: Buckle BKE Stripe T-Shirt in Green.

Jeans: Gap Premium Skinny in Faded Blue. (I can’t find them online; must be a store-only item.)

Headband: Anthropologie. Gift from mom, who borrows it once a week at least. (No longer available, but similar ones can be found online.)

Scarf: Maurice’s Solid Ruched Scarf in Rose Wine.

DSC_8783The jacket is great! Very lightweight (much more lightweight than the website photo suggests) so it can be layered with tanks or long-sleeves, depending on the weather. The color is nice and neutral, and the ruched sleeves and the slightly poufy shoulders are fun. It comes in a pale nude color, too, which is very pretty and feminine.

DSC_8797And…boots from Santa! Roxy Dillon. They were the only specific item she had on her Christmas list. Really fun.

DSC_8597Before the photos above were taken, we’d played around with different scarves. (This one’s from Dillard’s.) She liked the color, but didn’t like the fabric/style with the jacket.

I liked it! But I don’t know anything.

DSC_8660This one was cute, too.

But we both liked the pink one better.

And really, any old scarf would work.

(Scarves are taking over our household, by the way. Help.)

DSC_8755Despite the fact that I can’t stand for them to get older, it’s fun watching the girls grow up and not only learn how to dress themselves (okay, so that happened, like, over ten years ago. Waaaaah!) but also find their own styles—then mix and match them with no help from me at all. Next week, she’ll probably wear this jacket with leggings and a long turtleneck, and maybe even wrap the scarf around Charlie and walk him around as if he’s part of the whole outfit.

DSC_8658Not really…but wouldn’t that make a cute photo?
